The Trinity |

|
This word is not found in Scripture, but it is used in the Christian language to describe God in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is a hard concept for many people to understand or accept, but there are many instances in both Old Testament and New Testament when the Father, the Son, And Holy Spirit are together in one place. In Genesis the first chapter We Have the Father and the Spirit, and in the first chapter of John we are told That the Word is doing the Creation, all three in one place at one time. The Israelites had no concept of Father, Son and Holy Spirit, but looked at Deuteronomy chapter 6 and verse 4, and understood it to means that there is one God only. This statement is absolutely true, but God manifests himself in three persons. Let me give you a simple illustration. I'm going to bake a small cake. The recipe for the cake itself calls for one egg yolk. The frosting calls for one egg white. I use only one egg, egg yolk in the cake, and one egg white in the frosting, and had an egg shell left over. The egg shell represents God the Father, egg yolk represents the Son, and the egg white represents the Holy Spirit. Put together they are one egg (one God the Trinity). We know that this illustration is crude and simple, but we hope it helps you to understand concept of one God in three persons, the Trinity. |
