HEAR GOD

In the following scripture we will look at a key word (hear) that is in the small door called Wisdom and Knowledge that is the key to attaining wisdom.

1 Samuel 3:1-11
1: And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision.
2: And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see;
3: And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;
4: That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.
5: And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down.
6: And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.
7: Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him.
8: And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child.
9: Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt saySpeak, LORD ; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10: And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.
11: And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle. In this story above we have the account of the end of the ministry of the Prophet Eli and the beginning of the ministry of the child Samuel. Samuel could have ignored the call, he could’ve continued running to Eli, or refused to hear. He chose to hear and because he heard he became one of the major Prophets In the Old Testament

John15:15
15: Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. In the above Scripture Jesus is saying that all he has heard from the Father he is telling us. This makes us responsible before God for ALL of our actions.

John 16:12-15
12: I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13: Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14: He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
15: All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

In this Scripture we are being told by Jesus Christ that he must soon leave and that he will send us a comforter, the spirit of truth, also known as The Holy Spirit, who will have the responsibility of teaching us all that he hears from the word of God. Again as he teaches we must have open minds and hear his voice.

James 1: 22-25
22: But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23: For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25: But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

In the book of James, the first chapter we are told that being hearers makes us responsible for responding to the Word of God.

Romans 10 :14 and 15
14: How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15: And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
In Romans 10: versus 14 and 15, we learn that in order for us to hear the Word of God and understand it there must be those who are called to the responsibility of teaching and preaching his word.

In the following verses from Hebrews we hear the caution from God not to ignore his Word. Ignorance and ignoring the Word of God brings judgment to the individual, to the society, to the nation into the world.

Hebrews 3: 7, 15
7: Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
15: While it is said, To day if ye will hear
his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

Hebrews 4:7
7: Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

In the verses from Matthew below we are being told , as Jesus leaves this world, that believers have the responsibility of telling the rest of the world about the Word in order that they might believe.

Matthew 28: 19 and 20
19: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

In two portions of Scripture below two points are being made the, rewards of worshiping God , because we have heard and responded to his word, and the dangers again of ignoring him.

Psalm 95: 6 - 8
6: O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.
7: For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will Hear his voice,
8: Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

Proverbs 8: 34 - 36
34: Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
35: For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.
36: But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

Again we say the word "hear" is the key to all we do from here on.

Now we’ve completed this section and are preparing to enter door No. 2 where we will be equipped to continue this exploration. We invite and/or suggest that you join with us in this simple prayer: "Dear Lord and heavenly Father we pray that your holy spirit will lead and guide our path as we continue to seek you and to hear your word. amen"
